String Instrument Petting Zoo...A STEAM influenced intro to stringed instruments and the physics of sound. Students will discover how the size and length of the string (and instrument) affects the pitch of the note...I bring acoustic and electric stringed instruments to class and, after explaining how each one works, will leave time for the students to try the instruments (ukulele, violin, banjo, guitar, electric bass). For a longer (two hour) class, we can even have the students construct a basic guitar using a milk jug, PVC pipe, and string!
